Paris has a way of heightening everything, especially during Fashion Week.
And it was during the recent official Paris Fashion Week calendar that Messika hosted a night of high jewellery, fashion, emotion and spectacle, all of which was heightened by instinct, quite literally.
To mark its 20th anniversary, Messika unveiled Terres d’Instinct, Chapter Two inside the gilded halls of the Musée des Arts décoratifs, transforming the historic venue into a celebration for the Maison’s most expressive high jewellery chapter yet.

At the creative helm is Valérie Messika, whose vision for Terres d’Instinct is deeply personal. Inspired by a journey through Southern Africa, the creative director channelled the vastness of Namibia’s dunes, the intensity of its light and the quiet authority of its wildlife into 23 sculptural high jewellery sets. The result was a collection that feels powerful yet poetic and instinctive rather than ornamental.
Soft curves collide with architectural lines, brushed gold meets pavé brilliance, and diamonds – which is always Messika’s eternal signature – are pushed into bold new territory.
For the first time in the Maison’s history, Valérie introduced coloured gemstones into its high jewellery universe which is something she wanted to “dare” to do. Emeralds, sapphires, rubies, spinels and onyx punctuate the designs, echoing the vivid hues of desert sunsets, hidden oases and scorched earth.

“To celebrate the Maison’s 20th anniversary, I wanted to dare the boldness of colour,” she shared of the collection. “Exploring the infinitely evocative power of precious gemstones felt like a natural evolution. They extend the magic of diamonds and reflect the deep emotions Africa awoke in me.”
Standout pieces draw directly from nature’s codes: zebra-inspired graphic necklaces in onyx and baguette-cut diamonds, sculptural gold forms etched like lion’s claws, and modular creations that transform with effortless versatility. Despite their scale and craftsmanship, there’s an unmistakable modernity to the collection, which is a reminder of Valérie’s ability to make high jewellery feel alive, wearable and unmistakably of the moment, all at the same time.
Ultimately, Terres d’Instinct captures the essence of Valérie’s creative philosophy: jewellery guided by emotion. As the Maison steps into its next 20 years, Messika continues to forge its own path in the jewellery world – one that is both bold and beautiful.
