Life, Styled: Palestinian Jewellers Dujanah & Oloof Jarrar Take GRAZIA Through Their Ultimate Style Rules

Welcome to Life, Styled – the series by GRAZIA where we step inside the wardrobes of the region’s most stylish women and decode their week in outfits.

For this edition, we’re joined by sisters Dujanah (DJ) and Oloof Jarrar (OJ), the co-founders of House Janolo, a jewellery brand inspired by their lives based between Abu Dhabi and New York City, with a focus on artisanal craftsmanship and new-world techniques.

Naturally, as jewellery designers, their personal style speaks through their accessories and key pieces in their wardrobes. From the all-black outfit combination Oloof swears by to Dujanah’s go-to on-the-go Jumbo Chanel Flap Bag, this pair show us how accessorising your look always takes things to the next level.

DJ: All about proportions.

OJ: Collected, playful, personal.

DJ: Any of my JMM Sunglasses. They make every outfit.

OJ: I would agree with Dujanah.

DJ: For every day, a Jumbo Chanel Flap Bag. For travel, it’s The Row Marlow in a size 17. For a night out, a Saint Laurent clutch in any of their satin colours.

OJ: The Row Marlow for travel (it fits everything and more). Also, a raffia bag for summer.

OJ: Recently, we made a custom House Janolo Bracelet that has personal engravings that reference different moments, people, and memories of mine, and I can’t take it off.

DJ: How much I wear varies and depends. It’s more about how I feel and what I’m wearing. During the week, my clothes revolve around comfort, so I usually am stacked on my neck, my wrist and my hands – in all House Janolo of course. It gives the same effect as a coffee when you’re tired – it gives me that boost to hustle and just makes me feel confident. And then on the weekends, I like to dress up more with my clothes, so I go for bolder and brighter pieces that stand alone.

OJ: It really depends on my mood and what I’m wearing. If I’m in a simple outfit, I tend to gravitate towards more layered jewellery, mixing pieces, and letting the accessories become part of the statement. But when I’m wearing a lot of colour, pattern, or texture, I prefer to be more curated and intentional.

DJ: I think if you asked my friends and family that question, they would say colourful socks, big bags and prints. And House Janolo, duh.

OJ: Good pair of jeans and tank, cool sunglasses and a Janolo stack.

DJ: Instinctive, definitely. I dress the way I want to feel that day or in that moment. What I wear tends to impact my whole day. The mood I’m in and the way I want my day to go equal my outfit choice – that’s usually the equation. Because, honestly, nothing is worse than wearing something you don’t feel a hundred per cent in.

OJ: Both. The initial choice is usually instinctive! I get dressed based on how I feel rather than following a formula. But there’s also an intention behind it. Over time, you learn what feels most like you, what you keep reaching for, and what makes you feel confident. The best outfits happen when instinct and intention meet- one gives them personality, the other gives them direction.

DJ: My relationship with fashion has shifted massively. Now, fashion to me is a long-term relationship. I think growing up and growing into my style, I experimented a lot. That exploration really allowed me to filter out what is really me and what is not. There are a lot of styles in the industry I love and admire as a viewer, but not as a wearer. And I think that distinction has allowed me to wear the clothes rather than them wear me. I also think everyone, when they are told to “invest in high-quality core pieces”, it is the secret to an instantly more elevated closet. And then of course, once in a while, you get that amazing collectable piece you have been searching for.

OJ: When I was younger, I paid much more attention to trends and what everyone else was wearing. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to trust my own taste a lot more. I’m less interested in what’s considered “in” and more drawn to pieces that feel personal!

DJ: My answer is a universally relatable one – a good-fitting pair of jeans. The rarest of species.

OJ: As much as I love colour, nothing beats an all-black outfit on the days when I’m not feeling my best or don’t feel like putting too much thought into getting dressed. There’s something about it that always feels effortless, confident, and put-together. Then I can add a few House Janolo pieces, throw on a pair of sunglasses, and call it a day.
