Brandon Jones earns NASCAR Xfinity finale pole; Zilisch leads title challengers

Joe Gibbs Racing locked out the front row for the season finale with Brandon Jones earning pole position over teammate Taylor Gray.

Jones' fast lap of 27.490s was more than a full tenth faster than his teammate Gray, who earned his first career win one week ago at Martinsville.

Sheldon Creed qualified third, but the top-qualifying Championship 4 driver was Connor Zilisch in fourth. Zilisch actually ran the exact sane time as teammate and title rival Justin Allgaier, but won the tiebreaker. Allgaier will start fifth, with Richard Childress Racing's title contender Jesse Love right behind them in sixth.

"It's pretty funny," said Zilisch. "We always say the championship cars end up right around each other, and we're fourth, fifth, and sixth. I'm just proud of my team. We were good in practice yesterday, but we wanted it to be a little better. I feel like we got our Chevrolet in a good spot. I didn't do a great job in (Turns) 1 and 2, definitely hurt my lap, but we're in a position to go fight so that's what's important."

For those following the owner's championship, the final four there is a bit different from the driver's. While Zilisch and Allgaier's teams remain, they are joined by the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of Aric Almirola and the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Austin Hill.

Almirola qualified seventh, while Hill will start back in 16th.

Ryan Sieg, who is driving the No. 41 Haas Factory Team Ford following the suspension of Sam Mayer, qualified tenth for his 400th career NXS start. His brother Kyle is driving the No. 39 Ryan usually pilots, and he starts 17th on the grid.
