We may have just found our new-season signature scent. Chloé is adding a new perfume to its cult Atelier des Fleurs collection and, exclusively revealed to GRAZIA Middle East, Cedrus de Nuit might just be the fragrance we’ll be wearing on repeat as soon as the temperature drops.
For the uninitiated, Atelier des Fleurs is Chloé’s haute parfumerie collection, a fragrance wardrobe of flowers, leaves and woods created by renowned perfumers and inspired by personal memories. Each can be worn alone or layered together, and now the garden is heading somewhere darker. Cedrus de Nuit forms part of Les Fleurs de Nuit, a collection inspired by the creative energy of Paris’ Rive Gauche after dark and the flowers that reveal a different, more intoxicating side of themselves once the sun goes down.
For the new scent, perfumers Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner have reimagined Cedrus around the Queen of the Night – a rare white flower that blooms in darkness just once a year, releasing a warm, honeyed and subtly spiced scent into the night air. Here, it meets the airy woods of the original Cedrus before things get richer with amber, dark vanilla absolute and resinous benzoin. The result? Woody, warm and enveloping, with a touch of sweetness and a darker sensuality that makes it particularly appealing for autumn and winter.
Importantly, it doesn’t lose the lightness that makes Chloé fragrances so easy to wear. Think less heavy winter perfume, more the fragrance equivalent of swapping linen for cashmere when the season changes.
There’s history behind the nocturnal mood, too. Chloé founder Gaby Aghion was famously connected to the artists and thinkers of Paris’ Rive Gauche, and Les Fleurs de Nuit takes its cues from those nights: creative, free-spirited and distinctly Parisian. Even the bottle has had an after-dark makeover. Atelier des Fleurs’ signature pleated glass is rendered in deep cobalt blue, designed to evoke a midnight sky – so it looks as good on a dressing table as it smells on skin.

If summer was all sheer citrus, solar florals and skin scents, then this is our cue to go a little darker.
